David G. Malgee

Author and Historian

David Malgee is a historian, author, and retired business executive with a lifelong passion for Gettysburg and the Civil War. Before serving as interim president and CEO of the Gettysburg Foundation, he spent more than three decades as chief operating officer of VSP Technologies, expanding the company to five states before retiring in 2016. A graduate of the State University of New York at Oswego and the University of Richmond, David has authored books and interpretive texts for Virginia Historical Highway and Civil War Trails markers, and has spoken widely on Civil War topics. He served on the Gettysburg Foundation Board of Directors from 2018 to 2024 and has long been active in civic affairs, earning recognition from Rotary International and community organizations in Virginia. David and his wife, Sherri, live in Gettysburg, where they are strong supporters of Gettysburg History and remain active in local historical and civic initiatives.
