Dr. Craig L. Symonds is Professor of History Emeritus at the United States Naval Academy, where he taught for thirty years, and served as the Ernest J. King Professor at the U.S. Naval War College from 2017 to 2020. A leading authority on naval and military history, he is the author of eighteen books and the recipient of some of the field’s highest honors, including the Lincoln Prize, the Roosevelt Prize, the Morison Prize, and the Pritzker Award for Lifetime Achievement in Military Writing.
