Support Gettysburg’s Largest Archives
With millions of historical records, images, and artifacts in our care, Gettysburg History preserves the largest and most comprehensive collection of materials related to the history of Gettysburg and Adams County. Since our founding in 1888, we have served as the trusted stewards of this remarkable collection—documenting everything from everyday life to pivotal moments in our nation’s past.
Thanks to generous donors, we accept into our collection approximately 100 new donations each year, allowing our collection to grow and better represent the people and stories of Gettysburg. But this work is only possible with your support.
Your tax-deductible gift will go directly toward archival preservation—including the purchase of acid-free folders and boxes, digitization equipment for newspapers and fragile documents, and other tools needed to properly care for these irreplaceable materials. Our small team of dedicated volunteers, led by a professional archivist and curator, works tirelessly to organize, preserve, and share this history—but they can’t do it alone.

Our collection includes:
- Over 250,000 historic photographs and negatives
- More than one million archival documents
- Tens of thousands of artifacts and rare books
- An extensive map and newspaper collection
- A digital library of thousands of searchable records
